Removing Fireplace Bricks

While removing the fireplace, we found a brick stating the date that the fireplace was built. 1966. And a brick amongst them all that said "HIDDEN". The children thought this was a mystery to a hidden treasure in the house, and continued to look for clues throughout the demolition process. We later found out that the Hidden Family Brick Company, in Vancouver WA, supplied bricks for the area for many years and would put a signature brick in their jobs.

The Wolford family faithfully came many nights after work to help until well after dark. The children moved material and removed staples and nails from many, many boards. Lauri organized meals and many nights took laundry home. They have been a major support in this project.
